John Lubker joined the Graduate School as associate dean of students in 2011. He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology and history from Notre Dame in 2000. In 2003, he earned his master’s and educational specialists degrees in community counseling from James Madison University, and his Ed.D. in Sport and Exercise Psychology from West Virginia University in 2006. Dean Lubker joined West Texas A&M University as an assistant professor of sports and exercise sciences in 2006. In 2008, he was named associate dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and during 2009, he served as acting dean of the college. In spring of 2011, Dean Lubker was promoted to associate professor and became a tenured member of the faculty.
Dean Lubker’s research focuses on both professional issues and supervision practices in sport and exercise psychology. His academic record includes authorship or co-authorship of 11 articles and 2 book chapters and 26 presentations relating to his research interests. He also teaches PSY 46635 – Sport Psychology in the Department of Psychology. Throughout his academic training and employment, Dean Lubker has continually consulted with athletes of all levels, assisting them with the mental side of sport and to reach their athletic potential.
