From the 14-story Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C., Library
to informal hall libraries with a few shelves of books
and the substantial professionally oriented collection
of the Kresge Law Library, University Libraries hold over
2 million volumes, 2.5 million microform units and 22,600

Diversity in Graduate Education:
At Notre Dame, we welcome all people, regardless of race,

attention to building and maintaining racial and ethnic
diversity by devoting significant resources for recruitment
and by providing incentives to programs that successfully
attract and admit students of color. We interact with and
support several national organizations such as GEM (see
below), SACNAS, Institute for the Recruitment of Teachers,
Project 1000, National Physical Science Consortium, SHPE,
MAES, and NSBE among others whose goal is to increase diversity
at the graduate level, Notre Dame also hosts a McNair Scholars
Program (below) that is open to our students as well as
those from four partner universities.
