Graduate School Story Contest

Author: Mary Hendriksen

Win an iPad or one of three $50 gift cards

Every Notre Dame graduate student has a unique story to tell—why he or she chose to attend Notre Dame, what it is like to take a life-changing class or study with an amazing professor, or how influential mentoring, both given and received, is part of the graduate student experience. All these topics and more—for example, collegiality among lab mates, tips on surviving a dissertation defense, rewarding work with a volunteer organization, or an ideal “night out” or excursion in the South Bend area are the subject of a new Graduate School Story Contest. First prize is an iPad, with three $50 gift cards as second prizes.

The contest is open to current students and 2010 graduates of Graduate School programs. Written, presentation, video, art, photo, and audio entries are welcome. Students should note that the length of their submission or its medium do not determine eligibility for prizes. In addition to giving students an opportunity to reflect on their graduate student experience, the goal of the contest is to collect student stories and share them with our current community as well as with prospective students.

Students must submit entries by June 30, 2010, with winning entries selected by the Graduate School staff in July, and winners notified in August.

If you have questions about the contest, please see the official entry form or contact Linda Chism at lchism@nd.edu or (574) 631-4694.
