Laura Carlson, Dean of the Graduate School, announced Monday that the inaugural “Notebaert Award,” named in honor of Richard C. Notebaert, chairman emeritus of the University of Notre Dame Board of Trustees, and his wife, Peggy, will be presented to a Notre Dame faculty or staff member at the Graduate School Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 20, 2017.
Carlson noted, “at Notre Dame, we aspire to a holistic graduate training model, and this training depends on partners in the libraries, in centers like Kaneb or the Writing Center, and colleagues in numerous other offices across the University, such as Notre Dame Research. The Notebaert Award will honor faculty in all categories and administrators whose invaluable contributions are not recognized by longstanding awards such as the James A. Burns Award or the Director of Graduate Studies Award.”
According to Carlson, “Dick and Peggy Notebaert have deeply embraced the Graduate School’s collaborative mission to foster excellence in post-baccalaureate training. A diverse set of individuals across campus collaborate to create a community so that our graduate students can thrive in their studies and prepare for their long-term success. The Notebaert Award will shine a light on the extraordinary dedication of the many individuals who work tirelessly to serve our students."
Faculty and administrators who have a professional affiliation with a nominee are invited to submit a nomination for the Notebaert Award. Nomination forms are open until December 19, 2016: Notebaert Form
