PhD Career Pathways

Notre Dame PhD alumni make valuable contributions to a broad range of professions in academia, industry, the non-profit sector, and government. If we better understand the diverse paths our alumni take from graduate studies to their chosen career, we can improve the support we offer on that journey.

What Is PhD Career Pathways

PhD Career Pathways is a best practice project of the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS), a national organization that supports graduate education and research. The project brings together a coalition of universities seeking to better understand and support the careers of PhD students and alumni. The research is supported by grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF grant #1661272) and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. These funders will support CGS’s research activities as well as our university’s efforts.

Who Is Participating?

The University of Notre Dame is one of twenty-nine universities selected to participate in PhD Career Pathways as funded project partners.
