Word 2010: Preparing Your Dissertation

This workshop covers using the advanced features of Word 2010 to prepare and format documents, such as books, manuals, or dissertations. For practice purposes, the specific examples used will adhere to the Graduate School’s dissertation and thesis formatting requirements, but the skills learned can be applied to any Word document.

As a result of this training, you will be able to:

  • Use templates
  • Create and edit styles
  • Change the page setup
  • Place tables and figures in your document
  • Create a properly formatted title, copyright, and dedication page
  • Format your abstract
  • Create a table of contents
  • Create and edit headers and footer
  • Insert and edit footnotes or endnotes
  • Create captions and lists of figures
  • Format a bibliography
