The Department of Mathematics is ranked in the top quartile among all PhD granting mathematics departments in the U.S. The goal of our PhD program is to guide our students in producing PhD theses that contain original research worthy of publication in respected peer-reviewed mathematical journals. We also help our students to effectively present their research both in oral presentations and in written articles. Among our faculty, we have internationally recognized experts in the areas of Algebra/Algebraic Geometry, Complex Analysis, Differential Geometry, Discrete Mathematics, Logic, Mathematical Physics, Partial Differential Equations, and Topology.
