Beatrice, a doctoral student in the English program, is a native of the United Kingdom and an accomplished tutor in English literature, history, and Latin. She earned her bachelor’s at the University of Durham and master’s at the University of Oxford. She plans to focus her research on the interplay between theories of comedy and virtue ethics in the works of Jane Austen, and more generally to trace the evolving relationship of humor and ethics from Dante to the present day. After graduation, she hopes to continue her research on issues of religion and literature, humor, and genre theory.
