Richard and Peggy Notebaert Premier Fellowship (2022)

Samuel is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Mathematics. He is currently interested in algebraic combinatorics, specifically combinatorial representation theory, and chose to attend graduate school at Notre Dame because it has an excellent math program with a very friendly culture. One aspect that drew Samuel to Notre Dame over other top schools was the department’s fostering of a collaborative work environment over a competitive one. Given the wealth of resources for improving teaching at Notre Dame, he will also be able to pursue his passions for pedagogy and improving minority participation in mathematics.
