Heejin Kim '20 DMA, 2022 winner of the prestigious international Boston Bach Competition.
Organist Heejin Kim, Calvin M. Bower DMA '20, has won the prestigious international Boston Bach Competition. She won out of a large field of competitors from around the world.
At Notre Dame, Dr. Kim was a student in the Graduate Organ Studio of Professor Craig Cramer; her DMA dissertation, Heinrich Scheidemann's Motet Intabulations, was supervised by Professor Paul Walker. In addition to her doctorate from Notre Dame she holds a Bachelor of Music in organ performance from the Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul, a Master of Music from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, and an MM in Harpsichord from the Historical Performance Institute at Indiana University.
Presently she is pursuing a Performer’s Diploma at the Jacobs School of Music at IU. Ms. Kim is the organist at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Indianapolis, Indiana. Other major prizes include a first in the Arp Schnitger-Orgelwettbewerb in Bremen/Hamburg in 2014, and a second in the Concorso Organistico Internazionale “Organi Storici del Basso Friuli” in Italy in 2018.
