Alumna Heejin Kim DMA '20 takes first prize in the Boston Bach Competition

Organist Heejin Kim, Calvin M. Bower DMA '20, has won the prestigious international Boston Bach Competition. She won out of a large field of competitors from around the world.

Mauna Dasari in June 2022 in Pennsylvania holding a female bull frog as part of her postdoctoral research. (Animals were handled with proper scientific collection permits from the state of Pennsylvania and under IACUC protocols filed with the University of Pittsburgh.)

Dr. Dasari learned firsthand the delicate dance of partnering with resources on campus, including the Graduate School’s Office of Grants and Fellowships. Through her many interactions with the office — first as a fellowship applicant and then later as a consultant to other students — she slowly began to see her interests shift, a journey that would eventually lead her to explore a new and unexpected career directly connected to the skills she had honed while working with the Grants and Fellowships team.
