What is your hometown?

South Bend, Indiana

What were you doing prior to enrolling at Notre Dame?

I was working multiple jobs during a gap year between undergrad and grad school. I was a waitress, a museum docent, a debate coach, and a substitute teacher (all at once!).

What obstacles did you overcome to attend Notre Dame?

I grew up in extreme poverty and was the first of my family to attend college, so navigating everything about higher education while also struggling financially through school and the application process was really draining. I also struggled a great deal with navigating academic spaces as a queer person, and managing my reaction to and use of theories that often fail to account for experiences like mine.

What do you research?

I study gender and sexuality, specifically how people understand gender through their sexuality.

Which Notre Dame clubs or activities do you enjoy?

Book Club!

Do you live on campus or off?

off campus

What do you like to do in your spare time for fun? What hobbies do you enjoy?

I am a volunteer at a local animal rescue! I foster kittens and assist the medical team. I also help groom cats going up for adoption! I love to read, knit, and have recently picked up sewing.

How do you unwind after a long day of work?/How do you practice self-care?

I LOVE to read after a long day, preferably a work of fiction. I also love to craft and find that super relaxing. Cleaning is also one of my favorite things to do when stressed!

After you graduate, what would you like to do?

Not sure yet!

Why did you choose Notre Dame?

The stipend and benefits package, as well as my department's faculty in gender.
